Since 1997, Green Line has been actively involved in the Lebanese Protected Areas Project, which includes the Palm Island, Horsh Ehden and Al Shouf Cedar Nature Reserves. Green Line developped a flora and fauna monitoring program using GIS as a supporting tool. To that end, a GIS unit was established in 1999. This unit aims to specialize in conservation, biodiversity and rural development projects.
Green Line was approached by South For Construction to conduct an evaluation of the Rihane Mountain region (caza of Jezzine). Specifically, this survey would examine the natural importance of the region (with focus on existing flora), and recommend sustainable management practices for the future.
